Growing in confidence ages 4 to 7

In January 2010 Taverham Hall School Nursery was inspected and the overall effectiveness of the Early Years provision at Taverham Hall School, which includes Reception, was rated as ‘outstanding’. Early Years provision refers to provision regulated by Ofsted for children from birth to 31 August following their fifth birthday – the early years group.

In addition, the school was visited by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) team in November 2010 who described Taverham Hall School as providing ‘an excellent all-round education. The well-planned, wide-ranging and stimulating curriculum enables all pupils to reach high standards in relation to their age and ability.

The ISI concurs with the Ofsted report and also found the quality and provision in the Early Years Foundation Stage to be outstanding‘.

Taverham Pre-Preparatory School operates under three important tenets:

  • The setting of realistic targets for each child.
  • A proper regard for achievement.
  • The sheer enthusiasm of staff – and children!

Making learning work

We believe an education should stretch, inspire and develop every child. For us, it’s all about opportunity and choice through small classes. Every child is different, so finding the learning techniques that are right for them is essential. This provides children with the tools they need to guide them through their academic life.

Literacy and numeracy form the basis of teaching and targets are set to childrens’ individual abilities. At Taverham Hall, children develop academically and socially at their own pace. Achievements are always celebrated (stickers being a favourite reward!) with the focus on personal progress. Our aim is to help your child find the confidence they need, to become the best they can be.

We use creative, hands-on methods to introduce formal learning. All classes are structured around the National Curriculum and close individual monitoring allows us to set appropriate challenges at each key stage. This encourages concentration and the ability to think quickly and broadly; to communicate well and to work effectively in team activities.

Inspiring our children

The enthusiasm and energy from our teachers, transfers easily to our children – a child who is inspired is a child who will learn.

All Pre-Prep children enjoy two music lessons a week and many have individual lessons as well. In year two children begin to learn conversational French. At the end of the year, children host a special breakfast – entirely in French – for parents and children! Other specialists, including authors, make regular visits. Educational trips and activity weeks are also great opportunities to try out new skills.

Drama, dance and art give great opportunity for creativity and self-expression. School plays and concerts are a much anticipated opportunity for children to show parents their world of imagination.
